Our Faithful God

John 6:1-15 (NIV)

This passage tells the story of Jesus feeding five thousand men.

God knows us. He knows our thoughts, our weaknesses.

And God is a God of second chances.

Standing in front of five thousand men, Jesus knew what Philip was thinking, yet He still asked him a question to test him (v. 5-6). But, sadly, Philip failed the test and so did Andrew. It was not just Philip but ALSO Andrew. And there are and will be more Philips and Andrews in this earth, people like me who will fail to see how God will provide for our needs and not just our needs but our wants (v. 11) too amidst the impossibilities of life.

We are limited by our human strengths, weaknesses and knowledge. But we can count on Jesus to pick us up when we fall, to enlighten us when we fail to see, and to pass the test for us when we flunk it.

In John 6:10-11, Jesus showed how He passed the test, for us. It's the truth behind Max Lucado's statement: "God is faithful even when his children are not. That’s what makes God, God."

He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.
John 6:6 (NIV)
